Oh HAY there!
So I will have to absolutely start my first blog post with my oh-so-obsessed-with-scandi-design-brand HAY!
Although pretty well-known at this point, they just don't seem to stop to amaze me. Founded in 2002 they quickly climbed the up and coming designer ladder and launched their first collection at IMM Cologne in 2003. With inspiration rooted in the greatness of the 1960s Danish Design, they strive to create contemporary designs based on the same ethos, as they quote themselves:
'HAY celebrates the uncomplicated design and strives to stay solid, straight-forward, joyful and functional'.
With an ongoing search for what a modern life needs, their designs bridges architecture and fashion, with a colour palette that is a joy to the eye, resulting in what I would call pretty close to perfection. They also strive to keep their design accessible within an affordable price range. What more can you ask for really?
HAY never ceases to search for new design talent and are collaborating with a number of international designers. One of the latest and noteworthy ones, is their collaboration with the highly talented and innovative London based designer Sebastian Wrong, see the collection here.
As per today HAY have concept stores in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands. And as well as having their collection available at a number of high end retailers and online shops world wide, I can eagerly announce they have opened a HAY Mini Market pop-up at Selfridges here in London during the London Design Festival which is now on. For details see below or visit London Design Festival's web page.
So I guess that's it, my very first blog post and it wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be!
So if I have managed to catch your attention, please stay tuned for more upcoming Scandinavian obsession. Vi sees!
